A: To ensure a well-rounded and successful program, be sure to combine cardiovascular training, flexibility and strength training. For cardio, I'd recommend exercises like walking, jogging or cycling. Strength training can be done for example with weights or resistance bands. To improve your flexibility you might want to integrate Yoga into your program or do simple stretches for the entire body. Q: I just joined a Pilates (Beginner) class and my goal is to lose weight. Currently I weigh 151 lbs. How many calories do I burn on average during such a class? A: Your caloric expenditure is based on your weight and the intensity of your workout. In a Pilates Beginner's class you could burn up to approximately 500 cal per hour. In comparison, a person weighing 130 lbs would burn approximately 400 calories per hour. |
